TOMORROWLAND interview with Athena and Young Frank!
Just being in the same room as two of the stars, Raffey Cassidy (Athena) and Thomas Robinson (young Frank), of the Tomorrowland movie makes you feel like it your are living a dream.
Raffey Cassidy is as intelligent as the part she plays in the movie, Athena. Speaking with her English accent, she is the one who wants to change the world for the better. She also underwent training in swimming, gymnastics, wirework and martial arts, which was the primary focus of her training as her character kicks some serious butt in the movie.
Thomas Robinson is also known for his part The Switch and The Protector. Born in 2002, he is well on his way to stardom! Playing the young Frank Walker, he grows up on a farm who begins inventing with the help of mail order.
A fun fact about Raffey Cassidy is that she was missing teeth, so she had to get fakes made before the start of principal photography. Then Thomas started losing his teeth one by one. So the kids spent a lot of time getting “flippers” made, which are temporary, removable teeth.
We had the pleasure of chatting with Raffey Cassidy (Athena) and Thomas Robinson (young Frank) while we were at Disneyland last week and here is what we learned.
A Little About Raffey Cassidy
Raffey Cassidy says there wasn’t really one certain day when she realized she wanted to get into acting. Her brother went to audition and she was outside. They told her to come in and she had so much fun that she wanted to carry on.
Raffey says her thoughts about the movie haven’t changed since it came out on DVD. She thinks it’s a very optimistic film and likes the message that people are going to walk out feeling that as an individual person, they can do anything.
They both said their favorite ride is Space Mountain at Disneyland and Raffey loves the feeling and is obsessed with Roller Coasters. Also some advice for kids is to never give up and try harder, any dream can come true.
A Little About Thomas Robinson
Thomas Robinson says he was 4 years old when his brother started acting and he sort of just got caught up in it. It was just one of the best things that happened to him. It just sort of happened so..
We asked him if he has been on It’s A Small World since the movie and he said he has but is a little creeped out by it now. During the filming he had to go on it about 25 times without the music so you hear the clicking of the dolls blinking and moving..it’s terrifying.
Thomas said he did most of the stunts except for the one part where I crash through the fence in the cornfield scene, that was his stunt double.
It was a pleasure to be able to chat with Raffey Cassidy and Thomas Robinson and I wish them luck in their acting careers.
