We recently learned about the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System and were definitely intrigued! It seems like something totally different than any other cooking tool I have and appears to be easy to use.
For those of us that are a little cooking challenged this may be one of the best tools out there for helping you learn how to cook on a whole new level. I have seen a few other people say this is just for more experienced cooks, but I disagree.

Why was the Hestan Cue created?
A mechanical engineer by trade, Stanley Cheng was already known for creating the first hard-anodized, nonstick cookware. But what he really wanted to do was come up with a way that people could create amazing restaurant quality meals in their own homes.
What exactly is the Hestan Cue?
It is really unlike anything else out there! The Hestan Cue is what is called a smart cooking system and uses a combination of items to make it special. It mixes cookware, cooktops, recipes and videos all into one amazing system.
The Hestan Cue is kind of unique in that you will need to use the Hestan Cue app to use it. The app needs a smart phone or tablet that can run Android and be able to access the internet and have Bluetooth enabled. This will allow you to not only do firmware updates for your Cue, but allow you to access the recipes and other multimedia items for your cooking experience.
How do you use the Hestan Cue?
Once you download the app you will need to add your cookware to your account, once added you will be able to access a variety of features including the recipes that you can make!
What comes with the Hestan Cue Smart Cooking System?
The cooking system comes with the following:
- 11″ Smart Fry Pan or Chef’s Pot depending on which version you get
- 1600 watt Smart Induction Burner (Bluetooth enabled)
- Full Access to the Cooking app
You have the option to choose the cooking system with the pot or the fry pan – you can also purchase the burner, pot and fry pan separately.
What kind of recipes are on the app?
The app has a large collection of recipes from breakfast to dinner and everything in between.
To get the full list you will need to download the app, I wish they would have put a full list on the website since this seems to be a common question – and it is a pain to have to download the app just to see if there is anything of interest!
But here are a few that are available so you get a sense of the diversity!

My experience with the Cue.
I decided to give it a shot and happened to have a friend who had one so I used hers to facilitate my thoughts. I did not want to spend the money until I knew I would love it.
It was bigger than I had thought that is for sure and required a bit more counter space than I had expected!
The recipe I tried with was the Monte Cristo Sandwich . I have made these before in just a regular pan, but have to admit – it came out amazing on the Cue!
When I opened the app I was able to easily scroll through to find the perfect recipe, could set the amount of servings I need to get the right ingredient amounts and then click start to begin going through the steps!
The one thing that surprised me was how darn fast the pan heated up!
There was a crispiness on the outside that I could never really get – but the best part was the middle was melted to perfection. No matter how many times I have made grilled sandwiches of any type, I always seemed to have a cold center! Even the cleaning was fairly easy and painless although I was afraid to even clean it for fear of getting something wet I was not supposed to!
I will be getting my own shortly and do a more in-depth review!
Small frustrations.
The only things that were a little frustrating were:
- I wish there were more recipes – my family does not have expansive palettes, so more common recipes for every day families would be a great addition!
- The app sometimes did not see the pan while I was cooking – it comes in and out sometimes which throws off the process. This has gotten better over time though so it could be a glitch with it being new.
Why is the cost so high?
One of the main complaints we see about the Hestan Cue is the cost. Is several hundred dollar a lot for cookware? For most of us the answer is probably yes.
But it is not just the cookware and induction plate you are paying for. Some people are saying it is just a “pan” and a “hotplate” – which they absolutely are not.
