Last weekend I had the pleasure of joining 23 bloggers on Brandcation in Destin, Florida. One of the things we got to do was to go on the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise. We all got dressed up as pirates and had the time of our life! The is beautiful ship was 100 feet long and features a triple deck motor and can fit up to 149 people. I was in awe of how gorgeous it was and the details were awesome.
I was kind of scared to go because I wasn’t sure if I would get sea legs or not. I was surprised while we were on the ship that you didn’t even know that we were on water.
When we first arrived, we went upstairs to eat dinner which was served compliments of Jim N Nick’s BBQ. It was the best BBQ that I have ever had.
After dinner, the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise show was to begin. We were on the Friday night adult only cruise but they also have family cruises available as well so the shows vary based on the type of cruise you are on.
The show started off by shooting the canons which were so cool, loud but cool. Next up there was 3 teams chosen that had to move a beach ball across the floor – it was so much fun to do a group activity!
Next up, 4 girls got wrapped with cellophane. Then they had to break a balloon between them. We also formed a circle and moved hula hoops between us and over us without letting go of the next persons hand. We finished up the night with some dancing.
I can’t even tell you how long we were on the pirate cruise because time just seemed to fly by. You can follow Buccaneer Pirate Cruise on Facebook and Twitter and get more information on their website.
They have a spring special going on right now if you book online. It’s something the entire family will enjoy. I can’t wait to go again with my husband.
The ship is handicap accessible too which was an added bonus. There was someone in a wheelchair on our specific cruise and they had no problem coming board via the ships ramp with the help of the staff, and although they could only stay on the main deck – that was just fine since that is where all the action is happening. Motorized wheelchairs and scooters are not allowed though due to the weight of them.
You can schedule your trip online too which is neat! I hate having to call places to schedule – but their online booking page seemed easy and intuitive to use and allows you to easily see if your preferred date is available.
Giving Back
I am a big fan of organizations that give back and the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise does just that! When we came aboard the Buccaneer we had a group photo taken – when we purchased that photo (and several of us purchased a cope – and we are glad we did) a portion goes back to help several different charities. Currently they are donating to AIMS, OneHope and Food for Thought.
How Long Is The Buccaneer Pirate Cruise?
The typically Buccaneer Pirate Cruise is 2 hours – but can sometimes run a little longer.
Will We See Dolphins?
While I did not get to see dolphins on our specific trip – we had heard that seeing dolphins is something that can happen!
What Are Some Of The Activities We Will Do?
There are so many things to do on this pirate cruise – I swear I felt like a kid again.
Here are a few of the great things I got to experience:
- Sword fighting
- Water gun battles
- Dancing
- Story telling
- Hunting for treasure
Parents can take part in these activities or can kick back and watch the kids have fun with the crew.
Is There Food Available?
Yep! They have pirates and wenches available to provide you a variety of goodies like hot dogs, smoothies and yes there are beverages on board to.
Buccaneer Pirate Cruise Coupons and Deals
Unfortunately, the pirate cruise does not offer too many coupons or deals. Probably because they do not need to!
Here are a few things you can try to see if you can scour up a deal if you plan on taking the cruise.
- Check on Groupon – while there is no deals at the moment you never know when they may post one.
- Check with the hotel you are staying at and see if they offer any special offers, some hotels may have a special relationship where they can pass a deal on to you.
- Keep an eye on the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise blog for special promotions they may run.
- They do offer military discounts for those that are active duty and purchase tickets at on of the ITT Centers as per the rules on their website.
Clearly I am not alone in my love for this cruise. They have a 5 star rating on Trip Advisor, a 4.9 rating on their Facebook page and a 4.7 star rating on Google reviews! Pretty impressive if you ask me!
