Take an Airboat Ride on Boggy Creek!
When my son came to visit with his wife and 1 year old daughter, we didn’t want to spend the entire time at the amusement parks. After all, Aubrey wouldn’t remember it at her age. So, we decided to take an airboat ride on Boggy Creek in Kissimmee, Florida.
Boggy Creek Airboat Rides started in 1994 with a 6 passenger boat. They have since opened a second location and now have over eight 17-passenger airboats and four 6-passenger private airboats with a variety of tours.
I have lived in Florida for almost 12 years now and I can’t believe that we have never been on a Boggy Creek Airboat ride. While you idle along the canals, you can see exotic birds, turtles and most of the time an alligator or two or three….
We went into the store when we first got there and saw some neat animal heads up on the wall. After that, we suited up with our ear muffs to protect our ears from the loud airboat noise.
There were about 15 to 20 people on the airboat ride. It reaches speeds of up to 45 mph at times and just idling when reaching known alligator spots. They stopped so we could get some good pictures of the alligators. There is also a safari tour.
The airboat ride lasted a good 30 – 45 minutes. When we got off the airboat ride, we got to have our pictures taken with Fluffy. Fluffy is a baby alligator. Of course his mouth was all taped up so he couldn’t bite us. We all took turns holding him. Aubrey even got to hold his tail.
After that, we got to see some magic tricks. The guy was amazing and he knew his stuff. It amazes me how they do that.
Boggy Creek Airboats has a couple different airboat rides to choose from. Prices start at $20.95 for children ages 3-10 and $26.95 for adults. Overall, we had a really great time for something other to do besides amusement parks.
So, if you are visiting central Florida, be sure to check it out and take an airboat ride on Boggy Creek. It’s a nice alternative to spending entire days walking around at the amusement parks. And the swamps really are beautiful!
