Easy Chocolate Minions Spoons & Hot Chocolate!
We love the minions and must have watched Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 a minion times. So we were really looking forward to the release of the Minions © 2015 Universal Studios all rights reserved on DVD and Blu-Ray release on Dec. 8th. We ran out to get it so we could have a Minions movie night for some family fun.
We like to prepare for family movie night in order to get in the spirit of things. I wanted to do something different than the traditional minions items. For the Illumination Entertainment’s Minions movie night, we made some easy chocolate minions spoons. So easy as a matter of fact that we had them done in less than an hour. We also made some chocolate minions bowls filled with minions munch (crackers and candy) for a snack to go with the hot chocolate and chocolate spoons.

Easy Chocolate Minions Spoons:
Ingredients:
Blue plastic spoons.
2 small bags of yellow chocolate.
Candy eyes.
Black food marker.
Wax paper.

Directions:
Melt yellow chocolate. I put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds at a time stirring in between. Each microwave is different, so you have to judge it yourself.

I dipped the blue spoons into the chocolate until covered. As soon as I removed the spoon, I placed the candy eyes on them while still wet. Some have 2 eyes and others have 1 eye.

I laid them on the wax paper and placed them in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

When I removed them from the freezer, I took the black food marker and outlined around the eyes and made their goggles. I also made their mouths and hair.

These are super easy to make and I served them with hot chocolate! The kids loved them.

I also made chocolate minions bowls. I figured something different for the kids to enjoy while we watch the Minions movie. To be honest though, they were so entranced in the movie that they totally forgot about the treats.
The chocolate minions bowls weren’t as easy as the chocolate spoons but they were still cute.

Chocolate Minions Bowls:
Ingredients:
Balloons.
2 small bags of Yellow Chocolate.
2 small bags of Blue Chocolate.
2 tsps. of shortening (1 tsp for each color).
Black gel.
Candy eyes (the same ones I used for the chocolate minions spoons!)
Wax paper.

Directions:
Wash the balloons and then blow them up. You don’t want to make them too big. I made them approximately 6 inches high.

Melt the yellow chocolate with the teaspoon of shortening for about 30 seconds in the microwave, then stir. I put it in for another 30 seconds until melted. Each microwave is different so you will have to watch your chocolate closely.

Dip the balloon bottom in the yellow chocolate. I went about 1/4 of the way up. Then place them onto the wax paper. I held it until it would stand by itself (only a couple seconds!)

I let them sit in a cold room for about 15 minutes.
I then melted the blue chocolate with 1 tsp. of shortening the same way as the yellow chocolate.
Dip the balloons with the yellow on them in the blue chocolate but not as far as the yellow.

Once dry, we popped the balloons. I am not a big fan of popping balloons, never was, so actually my husband did them.
I took the black gel and made dots and placed the candy eyes on them to stick it to the chocolate. I also made the goggles with the black gel.
I waited for them to harden and then filled them with minions munch (crackers and yellow and blue candy!)

Note: No two bowls will be the same just as no two kids are the same, which is nice to teach the kids starting at a young age.

Those spoons are so cute! I love how it’s so easy to take something simple and give it such personality. #client
