The Porches in Steamboat Springs, CO!
A couple weeks ago I told you about a trip I won at Hilton Sandestin in South Walton Beach, FL. But awhile ago, I also won a four day, three night stay at The Porches in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I must say that I have been pretty lucky in the winning department in the past couple years.
I won through the trip through US Family Guide and when I received the email I didn’t really think much about it. It was sponsored by Discover Colorado. I thought to myself “Colorado is for skiers, we don’t ski and it would probably be a wasted trip!” Over the next couple days, I was getting a lot of congratulations from fellow bloggers. So, I thought I should look into it a little deeper. I received a card in the mail with a code to redeem for my getaway.
Now, if you follow along, you know I am not a big fan of snow. Having moved from Buffalo to Florida 12 years ago, we vowed never to see snow again. However, I should know better and never say never since we arrived in Buffalo in November to take care of my mom just in time for 7 feet of snow.
And again, we lived in Florida which is quite a ride to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We don’t fly so that would be a 3 day road trip at least. We were planning a trip to see the kids in Kansas and since it’s only 9 hours away, I thought well, maybe we will go. I tried to coordinate it so that both my son’s and their families could go with us. After all, it was a 5 bedroom house so there was plenty of room for all of us.
Unfortunately, they both work for their father and can’t get off at the same time. Neither was able to go and so we headed out to The Porches in Steamboat Springs, CO by ourselves.
I must admit…I’m a nervous Nellie about driving in the snow and when we heard they had just had a snowstorm a couple days before we were supposed to go….I almost cancelled.
Thank goodness that I didn’t though. The roads were clear except for snow on the side of the roads (a lot of snow) and we could see the mountains up ahead covered with snow also. I have to say that I was a little chilly in my shorts and my flip flops were not good in the snow either. Hey, we have lived in Florida for the past 12 years and didn’t own any winter clothes anymore.
So, are you ready to see how amazing The Porches in Steamboat Springs, Colorado really is? Come back tomorrow and read all about it!
