Effingham, Illinois ~ Holiday Inn

Effingham, Illinois

 Holiday Inn

While traveling on our summer travel adventure, we had the pleasure of stopping in Effingham, Illinois.  I found out where to stay and things to do on the VisitEffinghamIl.com website.  Be sure to read all about Effingham, The Corvette Museum and The Harley Barn.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn, which is located right off the Interstate 70 at Exit 60.  It is connected to the Thelma Keller Convention Center and centrally located.  Located at the crossroads of Interstate 70 and 57.

It’s directly across from a Walmart, so if you need any little odds and ends, you don’t have far to go.  We actually walked across the street, because it wasn’t a main thoroughfare.

On the day we arrived, it was kind of early, so we had a chance to enjoy ourselves in the indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub.  Something I always look for when searching for a hotel.

After taking a short break, we headed down to Thelma’s Restaurant for dinner.  We also had breakfast in the morning before we headed out.  The kids always eat free when staying at the Holiday Inn.

The rooms include free high speed internet, a 37 in. HDTV, desk, microwave and refrigerator.  The family fitness center is great because we could all stand a little exercise while traveling, even if only to walk on the treadmill.  Sitting in a car for 4000 miles isn’t good for anybody.

They also have a PC available with a printer, copying and business center.  And of course, a laundromat in case you need to do some laundry.

The Holiday Inn has 112 regal rooms and suites and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.  Even better than my bed at home.  This is definitely my preferred hotel whenever we are traveling that way again.

Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure be sure to check out the things to do on the  Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau website.  Call the Holiday Inn at (217) 540-7777 to check out the rates and dates available.
