Cabana Bay Beach Resort takes me back in time!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, compliments of Universal Orlando while attending the #FacingFearsTogether group event. I have already told you about Halloween Horror Nights 24 and now I want to tell you about the Cabana Bay Beach Resort and how much fun it is.
Universal Orlando’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened up just year in March 2014, so it’s brand new! Cabana Bay Beach Resort is co-owned and managed by Loews Hotels & Resorts.
Not only is it convenient to stay at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort because they have shuttles to and from Universal Orlando and CityWalk, but it also has it’s perks. Cabana Bay guests get exclusive benefits only available to on- site hotel guests at Universal Orlando, including Early Park Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter one hour before the theme park opens.
Accommodations at Cabana Bay:
It takes you back in time to a simpler time and there is so much to do right on property. Done in a 50’s and 60’s fashion, the oldies music playing throughout the resort, made me reminisce about meeting my husband because we met at an oldies bar/restaurant and danced to the 50’s and 60’s music.
When you first walk in the lobby of the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, you can’t help but notice the retro look in the furniture, lighting, and even the wall hangings and carpeting. Continue on to your room and you get the same feel. I should say, even before you walk into the lobby, the outside has the 50’s and 60’s feel from the look of the outside of resort to the old cars on display out front.
We had the pleasure of staying in a Family Suite which can sleep up to six and includes a kitchenette, pull-out sofa and an extra large bathroom. It was very comfortable and we had a view of the courtyard with the pool and water slide. Did I mention how comfortable the beds were? They are one of those beds that you don’t want to get out of but you also don’t want to spend all your time in your room. So many choices…so little time!
Recreation at Cabana Bay:
How many resorts do you see with a Lazy River, Water slide and Bowling Alley? Cabana Bay Beach Resort has all three and we got to use all of them in our spare time (no pun intended). It’s been a long time since I went bowling, and even though I had the lowest score, we had a great time.
Another fun thing to do was the Lazy River. We actually went a couple times. The first evening we just kind of floated around for about an hour because the float shack was closed by the time we got there. However, on the second day, we were able to get our floats and have a relaxing afternoon before heading out to Halloween Horror Nights 24.
Looking to stay in shape after eating all those goodies? Well you are in luck with the Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio. Equipped with top of the line cardiovascular equipment, medicine balls, weights and stationary bikes, even a short workout will keep you in shape.
There are also surprise appearances by some certain characters that you just might run into in the lobby.
In the mood for a movie? Catch a different one nightly on the lawn by the pool.
Dining at Cabana Bay:
We had breakfast daily at the Bayliner Diner and lunch at the Galaxy Bowl Restaurant while bowling and even a late night snack and drink at tropical pool bar, The Hideaway Bar & Grill while we were hanging out at the Lazy River. However, you can also grab some of your favorite drinks and snacks from the Starbucks located near the main lobby or the Swizzle Lounge lobby bar, Atomic Tonic located by the main pool and water slide or Delicioso Pizza which was available as a late evening snack when we got off the shuttle.
If you stay for breakfast, let me suggest the fresh made omelette. They make it right in front of you with your choice of items.
How much does it cost to stay at Cabana Bay:
The prices aren’t even comparable to hotels off site. They are way better and cheaper than even some of the hotels I have stayed in plus includes all the extra perks. Rates for the standard guest rooms begin at $119 per night, and can run as low as $93 per-night depending on the length of stay. The standard guest rooms sleep up to four with two queen beds and include a refrigerator, coffee maker and free wi-fi. Which if you have a family of 4, is all you really need, unless you want the kitchenette that is available in the Family Suite. Rates for the family suites begin at $174 per-night, and can run as low as $134 per-night depending on the length of stay.
