We actually stumbled upon this gem of a farm on a road trip and I am so glad we did. The “homemade ice cream” sign was what lured me in – there is just nothing better to me than fresh homemade ice cream!
Fair Oaks Farms is an escape to the country with acres of great outdoor fun, food and learning where you can explore a working farm and reconnect with nature, animals and our planet. We seriously spent hours here and enjoyed every minute of it – so if you are in the other this is a must do – especially if you have kids!
My first stop was the ice cream shop of course which they call the “Dairycatessen”. They have more than ice cream – there were sandwiches, salads and more – but I just wanted ice cream.
The line for the ice cream was long, so we figured it must good.
We waited about 15 minutes and then I ordered a Brown Cow Sundae which was a combination of waffle cone pieces, brownie, ice cream, hot fudge and caramel topped with the best whipped cream I ever tasted!
It was definitely worth the wait!
After that, we headed over towards the other building. You could visit the birthing facilities, see the farming lifestyle on the modern farm, play in the activity center and so much more.
We just checked out the fake cows and pretended we were milking them. I know, lame, but we were having fun. We didn’t want to take up too much time, because we were still a ways from our destination.
Just walking around the property was a treat in itself. The flowers were amazing and we got to see some Coy fish in the pond too.
If you are ever in the Fair Oaks, Indiana area, be sure to stop in at Fair Oaks Farms. Even if just for an ice cream, you won’t be disappointed.
Although we did not have our dogs with us on this trip, it was nice to know they were dog friendly as well. They have a dog park where you can let your dog get his crazies out after a long car ride!
There are several areas to this farm to visit including:
The Dairy Adventure (shown above)
The Pig Adventure
The Crop Adventure
Mooville (for the kids)
The Orchard
The Farmhouse Restaurant
Cowfe & Gift Shop
Daurycatessen
They also are proud to have a reputation for having the cleanest bathrooms along I-65 – and I can say with 100% certainty these bathrooms were almost cleaner than my bathrooms at home!
There is a hotel nearby that we stayed at too making the trip very easy.
Fair Oak Farms Coupons
The best way to get coupons to go is to sign up for their newsletter.
When we asked they said they do send out occasional special offers to subscribers so you can save money. The subscribe box is in the footer on their website.
Some
We could not really find coupons anywhere else. There was an old Groupon, but nothing recent.
An all day pass is normally $20 which is a fair amount for all there is to do. They also have membership levels that will allow you unlimited visits if you are local which may be worth it if your family loves this type of thing.
