Longest Yard Sale
I have been wanting to go to the World’s Longest Yard Sale on Highway 127 since I first found out about it in 2005. It has been extended this year from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama. It always runs from Thursday through Sunday, the first weekend of August every year. We were able to pick it up in Ohio.
Every year something was going on that prevented us from going. One year, was my son’s wedding, then my grandson was born and his birthday party always fell on that weekend. But this year, as part of our Summer Travel Adventure, we were able to plan it into our trip.
We were coming from Branson, Missouri, and heading to Western New York and were able to pick up Highway 127 coming through Ohio. It was only about 75 miles worth, and we had no room in the car to really put anything else, but it was the experience in itself that made it so exciting.
We couldn’t believe all the fabulous finds that we came across.
Things like old tools, weird things, things I remember from my childhood and so much more. You really need to rent a truck or trailer in order to really be able to buy all the neat things that you come across.
We bought a couple neat things, a bench with a flag painted on it, a street sign…firefighters lane for my grandson because he loves everything fireman, and a really old saw to hang in our garage.
We are hoping to be able to go to the Longest Yard Sale again next year, but with plenty more room, so we can take home more treasures.
