Summer Travel – Fun in Branson, MO!
When I was thinking about a family vacation this year I wanted to go somewhere not too far from home. I live in Kansas and there is a lot of places I could have chosen in the four state area but I chose Branson Missouri. I just love the scenery there, it is such a beautiful place! There is always a down-home welcoming feeling anywhere you go there, especially Silver Dollar City.
Silver Dollar City has recently opened the new Fireman’s Landing which was great for my children. I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and Fireman’s Landing was a blast for them! They have a little splash pad and misters which were great because it was rather warm during our trip. They have rides that are geared more toward the smaller kiddos, and they have this amazing ball “house”. In the ball house you can shoot them, load them up into little vacuum tubes, make them float, and it is three stories high! linked to that area is a climbing playhouse which even my little guy could navigate by himself.
The food is always AMAZING, I personally love their skillets and they have so many different things to choose from, they have a bakery with the biggest cinnamon rolls i’ve ever seen, and homemade chips on a stick, fresh popcorn, homemade jams and jellies, and of course all the favorites like corndogs, burgers, chicken, etc.
The train is one of our favorite things there, it takes you around the park and they have such funny conductors narrating your trip and whats a train ride without a little visit from some bandits? They have glass blowing, blacksmiths, shows, rides, water rides, a fantastic cavern, and so much more! I love going there and it is always a good time for the whole family.
We also went to Branson’s White Water Bay. This is a necessity in the summer for my family, who doesn’t love a water park? White water is a great way to cool down on a summer day! My kids loved The toddler play areas that have their own slides and pools and waterfalls!
We all got to ride one of the big slides where you are all on a big raft, I didn’t know how my kids would react to a big water slide but they loved it! Oh the dipping’ dots, enough said! They have a lazy river, many slides ranging from mild to really wild, a wave pool, two childrens swimming/play areas, and on some nights they play movies for the family!
Ride the Ducks was something I wanted to try when I went to Florida but never got around to it, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they had them in Branson. For those of you who don’t know what they are, they are vehicles that were used in the military and they go from the road to the water! Our captain was great, Captain Gramps, we had a ride around Branson and surrounding areas and got to see HardworkU, a university were students work on campus in order to graduate debt-free!!! My kids will be attending there when they are old enough!! Then the Duck took to the water and it was really cool. My daughter and her cousins got to drive it, and she loved every minute! The Ducks are definitely a fun experience for the kiddos.
Branson has so much to offer! Branson has so many shows, boat tours/shows, Dixie Stampede, mini golf, go carts, zip lines, horseback riding, Ripley’s Believe it or not, A Titanic museum, Caverns, Lakes, Zoos.
If you are planning a vacation, you should check out Branson!! We are going again soon and there is much more I want to try!
