When you need the perfect sweet treat for Thanksgiving that everyone will love – this simple recipe will be it. Simple to make with some of the most popular candies on the market – these adorable Reeses Cup Turkeys will be a great decor for your table – and a loved treat for Thanksgiving day dessert!
While this is not a real “recipe” where you really need to cook anything – and more like a how to guide to create the best looking turkeys possible, there is still some patience needed and a little heating to help keep your items in place!
But have fun with the easy turkey recipe – and go ahead and be creative to make them your own.
Most important of all – have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Ingredients
12 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – full size
12 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – mini size
1 cup Reese’s Pieces (yellow, orange and brown)
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 tablespoon shortening
24 candy eyes
Instructions
1. Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 25 seconds
2. Stir well and reheat as needed while making your turkey’s
3. Lay out all of your ingredients as you will want to work smoothly and quickly
4. Using a spoon, add a 1/2 teaspoon or so of melted chocolate on a full size Reese’s Cup
5. Smooth it out to cover the entire top
6. Place a mini Reese’s cup in the bottom center of the Reese’s Cup
7. Create an arc of brown Reese’s Pieces around the Reese’s Mini
8. Create a second yellow arc of Reese’s Pieces around the first arc
9. Finally, place the orange arc of Reese’s pieces around the second arc
10. Attach the candy eyes to the top half of the Reese’s Mini using a touch of the melted chocolate
11. Place a red or orange Reeses’s Pieces for the beak just between the bottom of the eyes – use a drop of the melted chocolate to help it adhere.
12. Repeat until all 12 Reese’s Cups are converted into chocolate turkeys!
