Pumpkin Trifle
Welcome to our first annual 12 days of Christmas desserts. Cookies, cakes and breads are the norm for the holidays. I am always looking for new desserts to make during the holidays. I had the pleasure of tasting this awesome dessert 2 years ago at a neighborhood party and have been making it since. It goes together quick and it’s great for a last minute invite.
For the first 12 days of December I have teamed up with several friends to spotlight our favorite holiday desserts. Make sure to check back each day to see the delicious treats we have to share with you.
My family is not a big pumpkin anything fan, but let me tell you that it was a big hit. Once everyone tried it, they wanted more. So much for no one liking pumpkin. You can substitute pound cake instead of the spice cake if you want to make it easier.
Since I am not at home, I am improvising and I am working with whatever I find in my mom’s home. I could not find a trifle bowl anywhere so I am using a punch bowl.
The Ingredients:
1 Box of Spice Cake Mix (the original recipe calls for gingerbread cake mix, but I couldn’t find it so I used spice cake mix)
3 Boxes of Butterscotch Instant Pudding 3.4 oz.
4 Cups of Milk
1 Container of Cool Whip
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Allspice
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground Ginger
1 can solid packed pumpkin
Prepare cake mix according to directions and let cool.
Prepare butterscotch pudding with milk.
Fold in pumpkin and spices into pudding mix.
Layer cake, pudding mix, cool whip and repeat.
Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
