Inspiring Decor For A Sunkissed Summer

Inspiring Decor For A Sunkissed Summer!

Now that March is upon us, some of us may be reveling in the newly sunny weather. Okay, so it may not be the peak of a tropical climate, but after a long and harsh winter, it is always so pleasant to feel the sun on your face and watch the clouds clear once more. It can be the catalyst that gets many of us in a summery mood and sparks us into preparing for the warmer season. For some of us, this may mean swapping hearty stews for light and fresh salads or trading in our thick woolen sweater for a thinner alternative. But it can also mean that we start to instinctively make some changes to our home decor too. During winter, many people have a natural habit of nesting – that is, making their homes cozy and comfortable in the preparation for the colder weather. When summer comes around, the opposite can happen. If you lack in inspiration for the coming season’s home decor, here are some ideas that can help get your creative juices flowing.

Let in the light

There is just something magical about seeing the morning sun beaming through the windows of your home. It can make you feel much more energized and the longer and lighter days can easily help lift your mood and make you feel much more productive too. Don’t fester in dark, dank rooms – let in the light! Make a point of pulling up the blinds in the morning and pulling back the curtains. If you don’t have a way of securing your curtains once pulled back, simply purchase some cheap curtain ties or screw a couple of hooks into your walls. Make sure your windows are clean and clear rather than stained or covered in marks, as this will allow for a much brighter and cleaner looking home.

Get rid of anything heavy or overly fussy

There’s nothing nicer than curling up under a big fluffy throw or blanket in winter, surrounded by a selection of big squashy cushions. In summer, however, this can make a room feel unnecessarily busy, especially if your home gets naturally hot during these months. Embrace the minimalist trend when the warmer weather hits by stripping everything back to basics – just put your throws and cushions in a box for later in the year. Replace any typically winter-themed accessories with summery ones. You can even manage to bag a few bargains on your summer home decor, like if you visit Coupon Sherpa for more Target coupons. Pop a few fresh flowers in a vase on your coffee table for an instant summer refresh.

Inject some color

If summer means one thing, it’s the birth of a whole kaleidoscope of bright colors. Even if you usually shy away from color, now is the time to step out of your comfort zone! A few bright trinkets displayed on a bookshelf can easily transform a room – why not embrace the tropical trend with exotic prints and patterns? Take inspiration from colors that make you feel good, just be mindful not to overdo it!
