On our summer travel, we had the pleasure of visiting Effingham, Illinois. Home of the Mid America Motorworks and Corvette Museum, the Corvette Funfest, the Harley Barn and so much more. I found out about all these neat things to do on the VisitEffinghamIl.com.
We have been traveling for a little over a month, with over 4000 miles under our belt, really making our trip worthwhile. Effingham, Illinois, was just an overnight stay, but we got to see some really neat things and even got the oil changed in the car.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn, which is connected to the Thelma Keller Convention Center. We arrived fairly early, so we had a chance to just hang out and enjoy the area.
Some of the things to do in the area, as I mentioned before, are the Mid America Motorworks My Garage Corvette Museum, Legacy Harley Davidson – The Harley Barn, Dr. Charles M. Wright House, Effingham County Veteran’s Memorial, Firefly Grill, Heartland Classics and The Cross at the Crossroads, just to name a few.
The Corvette Funfest is scheduled for Sept. 19th – 22nd, 2013. We will be heading back to Florida on Sept. 15th and are thinking of hanging around to check it out. We don’t have a Corvette anymore, but we have had 3 in the past 10 years. So, you could say we are Corvette enthusiasts. It seems like a really big event and something I think we would love to see.
There are also a lot of antique shops in the area that I would love to check out on our next visit. A day and a half just isn’t enough time to do too much of anything.
Be sure to stay tuned for my review on the Mid America Motorworks Corvette Museum and the Harley Barn.
