Dog Whistle for Teaching Commands!
I have often wondered why they say that a dog whistle is silent and only the dog can hear it. I could hear it and thought I was special, haha! No such luck…it turns out that a dog whistle being silent is just a myth. There are a few that are silent but most you can hear. And it has a higher pitch that only the dog’s can hear.
Harley knows the basic commands like sit, shake and down. But that’s about it. What I wanted the dog whistle for is to get her to stop eating everything in sight and to stop chasing cars.
We started working on eating everything in sight. Whenever she would pick up a glob of grass or a stone, I would blow the whistle. German Shepherd’s are supposed to be smart dogs but Harley just likes to do own thing and teaching her not to eat stuff is going to take some work.
The Dog Whistle comes with three e-books along with the dog whistle instruction booklet. I didn’t know that you can adjust the whistle in order to find out what your dog can hear.
You start with the sleep test and blow the dog whistle in short peeps and keep adjusting it until your dog wakes up or puts her ears back. Once she does, you know you found the sound she will respond to.
Once we get her to stop eating stuff outside, we can start to work on her chasing cars. 🙁 I like that the dog whistle comes with a lanyard so you can have it with you all the time. It also has an Anti Lost Pet ID-Tag Pendant where you can put your pet’s name and number.
