I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for something fresh to add to our holiday decorations – and while I am not a super craft kind of girl I do occasionally like to make my own decorations.
That is where the Christmas Tree Pallet tutorial comes in.
If you have ever wondered how to make a Christmas Tree from a pallet – we got you covered in these super easy step by step tutorial.
And although it is pretty easy there are a few things you should be careful of during the process!
Read on and I will share some of my secrets to make this rustic – and unique Christmas Tree Pallet!
Picking A Pallet
My father had tons of pallets in our basement because of the floods they had years ago so I was able to get a full size pallet from him. I wanted to create a larger than life decoration so I went big.
You can opt for a smaller pallet if you are looking for a less “big” version of this tree.
Choosing a pallet where the slats are as evenly spaces as possible will help keep the look of this piece cohesive. If the slats are all over the place in size then the outcome may not be as great as you want it to be.
Make sure the pallet is dry and ready for painting!
Painting You Tree
This is the part that was harder than I thought! I thougth it would be easy to create a Christmas tree with paint – boy was I wrong as you can see in the image below.
My points are pathetic. Embarrassing is a great word too. I was going for a cohesive sharpness on all of my tree levels but I did not even come close.
So – what did I do?
I created a template! Genius I tell you!
I just took some cardboard and created an angle I was happy with – tested it on paper and was ready to roll. And since all I had to do was flip it to do the other side of the tree, it was a perfect and cost-effective solution!
The Decorations
Allow the tree to dry thoroughly before adding ornaments.
I just added a gold star, some gold garland and a few simple decorations to my pallet – but you can be as creative as you want. All of the decorations for my tree came from the Dollar store so this whole project cost me less than $5.
Just to fill it out and give it a little more of a personal touch I added a few more ornaments I happened to have around the house.
I love how it turned out and it makes a great accent for our front entryway by our staircase.
