This wonderfully sweet and yummy Candy Corn Halloween Trifle will be a sure hit at any fall event that requires a sweet treat.
From a Halloween party to Thanksgiving dessert – this trifle will be the star of the event.
Ingredients
- 1 box of chocolate cake (and ingredients needed for cake).
- 1 8 ounce tub of cool whip.
- Red and yellow food coloring.
- 1 30 ounce can of Cherry pie filling.
- 2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice.
- 1 bag of candy corn.
Instructions
- Prepare cake according to directions on box, adding pumpkin spice to cake batter before baking.
- Add red and yellow food coloring to cool whip, until desired orange hue is achieved. (I did 5 yellow, 3 red.) Gently fold in colors.
- Once cake has cooled, gently cut cake into one inch pieces.
- In a large glass serving bowl (or smaller containers), you’re going to layer the bottom with candy corn (as desired –I did outer edges), cake, cool whip, cherries. Continue process until ingredients are finished and you’ve reached the top.
While I have created this as a basic Halloween inspired trifle, you can add additional flavors such as caramel pudding, or chocolate pudding to make it your own and use it for other occasions.
As an example for Thanksgiving you can trade in the traditional candy corn for fall inspired candy corn shaped like turkeys or leaves.
Think outside the box to create this trifle for Easter or 4th of July! Swap out chocolate cake for vanilla and use candies that are inspired by the holiday colors to customize this trifle for any event.

Notes
If you want to use this dessert for Thanksgiving you can swap out traditional candy corn for those in the shape of turkeys or leaves to make it a but more festive.
To add a touch more flavor you can also add in a layer of caramel or butterscotch pudding!
Instead of making single size servings you can create this recipe in 1 glass bowl and serve on plates - although it won't be as pretty, it will taste just as great!
