I had the pleasure of driving around in a 2013 Kia Sorento for the past week and I was very sad to see it go today. It was great to have it over the holidays for traveling to and from Grandma’s house with all the packages and trimmings for Christmas Dinner. I have pretty much been a truck person most of my life and although the Kia Sorento is considered an SUV, I consider it a truck because you can put so much more in it than a regular car.
When it arrived I was surprised that it had 3 rows of seats because from the outside you couldn’t tell with 183.5 in. long and 74.2 in. wide. It is actually smaller than our current vehicle but has so much more room. It can hold up to 7 passengers comfortably. The second row is a 60/40 split seat and the rear is a 50/50 split. What I also liked was that in the last row of seats it had it’s own air conditioning that once turned on by the driver, the passengers can adjust it for themselves as needed. It also has a push button start so as long as the key is in your pocket or purse, there is no need to go digging around for it.
When the rear seats aren’t in use their is a cover to protect your belongings so no one can see them outside. The Kia Sorento had a 3.5L V6 Engine with a 6 speed Automatic Transmission. Some of the Safety Features on the car that I really liked were the Dual Front Airbags, Front Seat Side Airbags, Side Curtain Airbags in the 1st and 2nd row, Anti Lock Brakes, Tire Pressure Monitoring System just to name a few.
In the front you have memory seats so you that you and another person can have your settings remembered. I especially like the Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control. No two people ever like the same temperature and they shouldn’t have to. The Navigation System with Bluetooth Wireless Technology is great so you have hands off Phone and Music and also a spot to plug in your phone or Ipod if you want to.
Some of the other features I absolutely love are the heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel with Radio and Phone Controls, Cargo Net to keep your groceries from rolling around, rear window wiper, Panoramic Sunroof, Illuminated Sill Trim, Rear Camera Display, Adjustable Drivers and Passengers Seats and the Front and Rear Stainless Trim.
The Kia Sorento gets an estimated 20 MPG City and 26 MPG Highway. I really liked the Kia Sorento, I had plenty of leg room for traveling as I am 6 ft tall, I could easily sit in any of the rows with 41.3 in. in the front, 37.6 in. in the middle row and 31.3 in. in the rear row. It has 72.5 cu. ft. with the 2 rows down. That’s quite a bit of room. It comes with a 10 Year/100,000 Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty, 5 Year/60,000 Mile Limited Basic Warranty and 5 Year/60,000 Mile Roadside Assistance. The Kia Sorento starts at 23,150 and can be found at a Kia Dealer near you.
I would like to thank Kia Motors who provided me with this vehicle for an honest review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review if I so chose.
